Like a bratty kid, Chief Swine Lanier spits in the face of district residents.
Despite a federal arbitrator ruling the All Hands on Deck (AHOD) is in violation of DC law and of the of the rank and file swine labor contract, Lanier reinstated AHOD Friday morning.
AHOD mandates that every swine within the MPD work a series of 12 hour shifts over the course of the weekend. As a program, it prohibits use of vacation days and forces all 3,800 sworn swine to work overtime.
Federal arbitrator John Truesdale ruled in September that the changing of schedules without negotiation was a violation of the labor contract and the DC law.
In response to this ruling, Swine Lanier and her Wild Boar BFF Mayor King Fenty vowed to appeal this ruling. And appeal they did. But they failed, the decision was upheld.
Kris Bauman, president of the FOP asserts, “The message that the chief and the mayor are sending is that they will not obey the union contract or the law.”
Regardless of the law, Fenty and Lanier carried on with their assault on District residents (and on the swine union) this weekend. In past AHODs 1000s of people (hundreds each AHOD, thousands in total) were arrested, most were no-papered (no charges ultimately brought), and besides the few arrested for outstanding warrants, the majority of the charges were misdemeanors. Take this past July for example, out of just over 500 people arrested, exactly 100 of them had their cases thrown out!
So really what happens is the DC pigs engaged in a giant mass arrest of entire sectors of the population: low-income, homeless, people of color, youth. To Lanier and Fenty, it doesn’t matter if they committed a crime, so long as they can spin it to make the rest of the population think they committed a crime. Newsflash Swine: We’re not buying it.
